Integral care

Care for the person, not only the tumour.

Facing glioblastoma, wellbeing and quality of life rest on several pillars. This is our integral view of accompaniment — medical, nutritional, physical and emotional.

Evidence-based guidance, not medical advice. Decisions about nutrition or exercise are always made with your medical team. Be wary of ‘miracle’ promises.

Pillar 01

Treatment & medical care

The foundation: surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, clinical trials and research, plus evidence-based complementary resources that support wellbeing.

  • Standard treatment and options
  • Clinical trials and research
  • Understanding your diagnosis and biomarkers

Our own research project, FASTGBM, lives within this pillar.

Pillar 02

Nutrition

Rigorous information on food and glioblastoma — something many families actively look for, and where there is a lot of noise. We want to cover it with evidence.

  • Oncology nutrition and preventing malnutrition
  • Tumour metabolism and research lines (e.g. ketogenic diet) — what the evidence says
  • Managing treatment side effects (appetite, nausea)

In the meantime: check with your team and, if possible, an oncology dietitian-nutritionist.

Pillar 03

Movement & exercise

There is growing evidence for the value of adapted exercise in cancer patients: maintaining muscle mass, mobility, energy and mood.

  • Safe, adapted exercise during treatment
  • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation (including neurological)
  • Oncology exercise resources and initiatives

In the meantime: ask your team what activity is safe in your case; oncology exercise programmes exist.

Pillar 04

Emotional wellbeing, creativity & social life

The emotional impact of the diagnosis is huge — for patients and families. Keeping bonds, meaningful activities and psychological support makes a real difference day to day.

  • Psychological support and psycho-oncology
  • Connection with other families and community
  • Creativity, purpose and social life
A view that grows

Caring for someone is more than treating a disease

These pillars will grow over time, always with rigour and care. If you have knowledge to contribute — in nutrition, exercise or emotional wellbeing — we'd love to build them with you.
